During the birthing phase of labor, sitting on a birth stool can widen the pelvis and allow more room for the baby's head to pass through. It can also help to relax the pelvic floor. Birth stools are a great way to alternate squatting with a sitting rest position. The handles on my birth stool are the perfect height for body support helping "mom" to achieve optimal fetal positioning with the standing squat. Properly using a birth stool is also known for reducing tears and the need for an episiotomy. Combined with the force of gravity, you have one powerful and effective tool! I am so happy to be able to offer this fabulous birth stool for rent! The stool is custom handmade by an Amish carpenter who insists on quality and craftsmanship. Made of lightweight Poplar and well sealed to keep out all fluids. It is easy to disinfect with bleach & water, and I provide instructions on how to disinfect the birth stool prior to returning it. In addition, I disinfect the stool when I receive it. You may choose to cover the stool in a protective covering such as plastic or a softer, more comfortable fabric (such as a towel). The birth stool is wonderful for homebirths, where a variety of birthing positions and tools are desired, as well as hospital or birth center births where a birth stool is not supplied. Dimensions & Size: 28" Long 20" Wide 17 1/2" High Weighs 25 lbs The birth stool is small enough to carry around with one hand and toss in the back seat or trunk of a car with no problem (in smaller cars, it will take up most of the room in the trunk, and may seem a bit bulky). Yet it is sturdy enough to support larger women and the abuses of a laboring mother. There is also plenty of room for easy access from all angles, with NO sharp edges or corners. The birth stool is available for rental on a weekly or monthly basis. Monthly rentals are a better value, and you won't have to worry about whether or not the stool will be available when you give birth. I recommend renting the stool beginning two weeks before your EDD. Weekly Rate: $18 (7 days) Monthly Rate: $55 (4 weeks) The stool is available at 3pm on your first rental day and must be returned by 12noon on your last rental day. Extensions may be available (for example, if you have not given birth as your final day approaches, please call me to confirm availability for an extension). Pickup/Drop off is in Chicago, IL (Portage Park,
near Addison & Central). |
